This is an attempt to set out the beginnings of the Conie/Coney family in America. It begins with JOHN CONEY who emigrated with his mother, ELIZABETH in about 1634. Information comes from Mary Holman's book but any additional information would be welcome.
1.JOHN
CONEY bapt 17th July 1628 in Boston, England. He came to America with
his mother and stepfather and learnt his trade as a cooper. He married
in Boston, Mass on 20th June 1654 ELIZABETH NASH( she was born in abt
1635 and died 16th December 1687 in Boston). They had thirteen children
most of whom died young - John(2), Sarah, Joseph, Elizabeth, William,
Thomas, Mercy(3) Rebecca(4), Elizabeth, Benjamin(5), Samuel,
Nathaniel(6) and Elizabeth(7). He died in Boston 24th December 1690

JOHN CONEY born 5th January 1655 in Boston. he married first abt 1677
SARAH(who died in Boston 17th April 1694). They had six children, five
of whom died in infancy - John, Robert, James, Mary, John and Sarah(8).
He married secondly on 8th November 1694 MARY (ATWATER) CLARK( she was
born 15th January 1659/60 and died 12th March 1726 in Boston). they had
six children - Mary(died young), Anna(9), Mehetable(died young),
Mary(10), Abigail(11) and Mehetabel(12). he was well known as a
goldsmith and died in Boston 20th August 1722.

MERCY CONEY born 10th March 1668/9 and still alive at the time of her
father's death. Apparently unmarried and died probably bef 1716.

REBECCA CONEY born 18th June 1670. Married 7th December 1692 to
JOYLIEFFE PRICE(born 2nd March 1662). Died 3rd March 1698 apparently
without children.
5.
BENJAMIN CONEY born 16th October 1673. He married on 18th December 1705
in New Haven, Conn MEHETABEL GLOVER(born 1st May 1679). They presumably
had no children and he died 27th February 1721
6.
NATHANIEL CONEY bapt 24th March 1677. He married first on 11th October
1699 in Hingham, Mass ELIZABETH GREENLAND(born 28th May 1679 and died in
Boston 7th May 1711). They had seven children, three of whom died in
infancy - John(13), Elizabeth, Mehetabel, Unnamed, Nathaniel(14),
Daniel(15) and Sarah(16). He married secondly on 6th September 1711
ABIGAIL (SKINNER) AGER(born abt 1685 and died at Stoughton, Mass bet
1728 and 1736). They had nine children - Abigail(17),Thomas(18),
Elizabeth(19), Samuel(20), Mary(21),Priscilla(22), Joseph(23),
William(24) and Anna(25). He married for a third time on 27th December
1736 MARY ROYAL( born 1670 and died 30th January 1749/50 and was buried
in Copps Hill). He died in Boston suddenly on 19th November 1742.

ELIZABETH CONEY bapt 17th April 1681. She married as his second wife in
Stratford, Conn on 11th April 1705 THOMAS BOOTH(born 15th March 1679
and died abt 1740). they had eight children. She died in Newport,Conn in
1776

SARAH CONEY born 9th May 1691 in Boston. she married as his second wife
on 9th May 1712 SAMUEL GERRISH(born abt 1685 and died abt 1741). They
had eight children and she died in Lincoln, Mass. 14th February 1764
9.
ANNA CONEY born 23rd February 1696/7. She married in Boston on 9th May
1712 REV. THOMAS FOXCROFT(born in Cambridge, Mass 26th February 1697 and
died 18th June 1769). They had twelve children. She died 9th October
1749.

MARY CONEY born 11th November 1699. She married on 9th May 1734 REV.
SETH STORER(born26th May 1702 and died 27th November1774 in Watertown).
They had no children and she died after 1774.

ABIGAIL CONEY born 5th January 1700/1 in Boston. She married 21st
February 1722/3 HON. EDWARD BROMFIELD(born 5th November 1695 and died
10th April 1756). They had eight children. She died October 1779.
12.
MEHETABEL CONEY bapt 27th February 1702/3. She married 5th November
1722 HON. FRANCIS FOXCROFT(born26th January 1694 and died 28th March
1768 - brother of Rev. Thomas). They had fifteen children and she died
4th May 1782.

13. JOHN CONEY born 14th January 1701. A brazier by trade he died 20th August 1726.

NATHANIEL CONEY born 18th December 1705 in Boston. He married in
Walpole, Mass on 10th May 1732 SARAH MORSE( born abt 1706 in Sharon
and buried 30th November 1796). He served in the French war in Col
Miller's Regiment. They had eleven children Sarah(26), Abigail(27),
Mary(28), Nathaniel(29), John(30), Anna(31), William(32), Thomas(33),
Elaizabeth(34), Mehetabel(35) and Samuel who died aged 4 in 1759. He
died in Sharon( formerly Stoughton) in February 1779.

DANIEL CONEY born in Boston 17th October 1709. He married SARAH JONES
on 2nd August 1733( she was born 7th March 1708/9 and died aft 1774). He
was a soldier in the French war. He was a cabinetmaker. They had six
children - Owen,DAniel,Sarah and Abigail all died young. Two survived
Sarah(36) and Ruth(37). He died in Boston aft 1744.

SARAH CONEY born 20th March 1710/11. She married 25th January 1732
EBENEZER HOLMES( born in Dedham 4th April 1707 and died 30th May 1785).
They had ten children. She died aft 1785.

ABIGAIL CONEY born 28th July 1712. She married MICHAEL LOWELL on 18th
February 1734.( He was born 22nd December 1709 and died 12th May 1761)
They had eight children. She died aft 1761.
18. THOMAS CONEY born 2nd July 1714 and died 16th May 1749

ELIZABETH CONEY born 15th May 1716. She married 25th August 1736 JOSEPH
PETTEE( he was born 18th November 1707 and died also in Walpole October
1778). They had five children. She died 27th November 1750.

SAMUEL CONEY born 15th April 1718. He married first on 28th January
1741 REBECCA GUILD( born Dedham 6th September 1721 and died in Augusta
21st April 1793). He was a soldier in the French war with Col Miller's
regiment. He was later a successful agriculturist in Stoughton and was
also deacon in the local church. His descendants start to spell the name
Cony. They had nine children - Rebecca(38), Samuel(39),
Priscilla(40),Daniel(41), Susanna(42). John, Jacob, Jacob and David all
died young. He married second on 19th June 1796 ANNA FLETCHER. He died
in Augusta, Maine on 12th April 1803.

MARY CONEY born 18th March 1719 in Attleborough, Mass. She married
first on 29th August 1738 in Dedham SAMUEL PETTEE( born abt 1714 and
died in Dedham 15th February 1752- within the space of 5 days his son
and father also died). They had four children. She married second CAPT
JOHN STEARNS( born Lexington 12th July 1712 and with ten children from
his first marriage. He died in Attleborough 15th August 1792). They had
two children. She died in Attleborough 16th November 1795.
22. PRISCILLA CONEY born 2nd April 1722 in Sudbury and died 11th September 1768 in Stoughton.

JOSEPH CONEY born in Reheboth, Mass 8th May 1724. He married in Sharon
on 1st September 1748 SARAH SAVELL( born 12th October 1726 and died aft
1800 but prob bef 1810). They had seven children Sarah(43), Mary(44),
Ruth(45) and Joseph(46). Elizabeth died aged 22, Hannah at birth and
Hannah again at 18. He was a farmer in Sharon and later Walpole. He
served in the Revolutionary War. He died 3rd January 1805.

WILLIAM CONEY born 29th March 1726. He married first in Dedham on 27th
April 1749 MEHETABEL ELLIS( born 18th July 1727 and died 14th August
1777). They had ten children - Oliver(47),Nathan(died young),
Abigail(48),John(49),Molly(50),Mille(51), Priscilla(52), William(53),
Daniel(54) and Ellis(55). He married second 14th June 1785 MARY CARR(
born 16th February 1739 and died 21st March 1817 in Ware,Mass). He
served in the Louisberg campaign and in later Canada expeditions and
later served in the Revolution. He died in Brookfield 1st November 1805.
25.ANNA
CONEY born 23rd September 1728. She married as his second wife in abt
1756 MAJ. AARON GUILD( born 5th April 1728 and died 3rd February 1818.
His first wife was Sarah Coney(26). With Anna he had eight children. She
died 24th August 1776.

SARAH CONEY born 18th April 1733 and was neice of Anna(25). She married
MAJ. GUILD and they had two children. She died 18th February 1755.
27.
ABIGAIL CONEY born 15th May 1736. She married 5th February 1754 in
Dedham EDWARD BULLARD( born 27th April 1734 and died 5th March 1788. He
was a farmer and lived all his life in Dedham). They had five children.
She died aft 1788.
28.
MARY CONEY born 1st May 1738 and married 24th November 1757 NATHANIEL
CLARK( born 27th September 1733 and died in Foxborough 12th July 1823).
They had seven children. She died in Foxborough 28th February 1823.
29.NATHANIEL
CONEY born 11th July 1739 and married 25th June 1767 in Sharon MARY
CLARK( born 1st June 1745 and died 20th April 1826). They had six
children, three of whom died young - Mary(56), Nathaniel, Lois, Da...,
Nathaniel(57) and Lucy(58). He was a farmer and served in the French war
in the same company as his father Nathaniel. He also served in the
Revolution as 2nd Lieutenant. He died 5th July 1803.
30.
JOHN CONEY born 6th July 1741 and married in Sharon on 19th April 1763
KEZIAH HOLMES( born 19th March 1741 and died 11th February 1818). They
had ten children - Sarah, Eleanor, Eunice, John(59). Elijah,
Elizabeth(60), Oliver, Edward(61), Jeremiah(62) and Mary(63). He was a
farmer in Sharon and served as asoldier in 1763 and 1765. He also served
in the Revolutionary war as a private. After the war they went to
Foxborough but were warned from that town! They then went to Roxbury. He
died 12th March 1797.

ANNA CONEY born 1st September 1743 and married in Sharon on 19th
October 1765 DANIEL RICHARDS Jnr( born 29th June 1741 and died 8th
November 1819). They had ten children and she died in Sharon 23rd August
1790.

WILLIAM CONEY born 4th March 1745 and married 28th February 1772
REBECCA BULLARD( born 5th February 1752 and died 6th January 1831). They
had seven children - William(64), Jabez(65), Luke(66), Lewis(67),
Rebecca, a son and Ellis. He served in the Revolution. He died 18th
March 1816 and is buried in Norwood graveyard.
33.THOMAS
CONEY born 21st October 1747 and married on 10th August 1782 NAOMI
GOULD. He served as a corporal in th Revolution and died 12th July 1821
apparently without children.
34. ELIZABETH CONEY baptised 3rd February 1751 and married THOMAS BAKER.
35.
MEHETABEL CONEY born 9th September 1753 and married on 14th January
1779 JEREMIAH RHOADS( born 30th November 1754 and died in Sharon 5th
June 1802). They had three children. She died 27th January 1843.

SARAH CONEY born 20th April 1740 and married in Boston on 19th December
1758 JOHN OWEN(born 9th April 1737 and died bef March 1799. He was a
master mariner and cooper). They had eleven children most of whom died
young. She died in Boston aft 1799.

RUTH CONEY baptised in Boston 30th December 1744 and married 22nd
August 1741 CAPT. MUNGO MACKAY( born presumably in Scotland in 1741 and
died in Boston 29th March 1811. He was a master mariner.) They had
thirteen children. She died 16th June 1820.

CONEY born 2nd May 1743 and married 7th October 1762 SOLOMON
CUMMINGS(born 26th May 1741 and died 12th January 1806). They had no
children and she died 17th May 1798 in Hallowell, Maine.
39.
SAMUEL CONEY(CONY) born 18th May 1746 and married in Bridgewater, Mass
on 15th October 1770 SUSANNA JOHNSON( born 22nd December 1747 and died
in Augusta, Maine 5th August 1830). They had five children-
Hartsorn(68), Jason-Dexter(69), Samuel(70), Jacob and Susanna(71). He served in the Revolution as a private. He died in Hallowell 22nd September 1779.
40.PRISCILLA
CONEY born 12th March 1748 and married 25th November 1779 THOMAS
SEWALL( born 24th September 1750 and died in Augusta 4th May 1833) They
had six children. She died in Augusta 19th September 1836.
41.DANIEL
CONEY born 3rd August 1752 and married 14th November 1776 SUSANNA
CURTIS( born 4th May 1752 and died in Augusta in 1833). They had five
children, one of whom died young - Nancy-Bass,Susan-Bowden(72),
Sarah-Lowell(73), Paulina-Bass(74) and Abigail-Guild(75). He served in
the French war and the Revolution as 2nd Lieutenant and later Adjutant.
He became very prominent in civil affairs holding a seat in the Mass
House, Senate or Executive Council. He became a Judge of the Court of
Common Pleas in 1799 and five years later Judge of Probate. In his early
life he was a physician and later in life he received honorary degrees
of M.D. and A.M. His descendants all spell the name Cony. He died in
Augusta 21st January 1842.
42.
SUSANNA CONEY born 11th October 1755 she married in Shutesbury, Mass
18th May 1778 JOHN CHURCH( born in Killingly,Conn 9th May 1753 and died
in Farmington, Maine 12th March 1838). They had nine children, one of
whom, Delight married Jason-Dexter Coney(69). She died in Mercer, Maine
6th May 1844

SARAH CONEY born in Walpole 30th July 1749. She married 21st November
1771 Lieut. BENJAMIN GAY( born 16th November 1747 and died abt 1806).
They had nine children. She died aft 1806.
44.
MARY CONEY born in Walpole in 1751 and married Deacon ISAAC PRATT( born
24th November 1746 and died 14th November 1820. They had nine children.
She died in Foxborough 20th June 1795.
45.
RUTH CONEY born 11th June 1763. She married in Sharon on 8th November
1781 JOB ESTY( bapt 5th October 1760). They had two children both of
whom died young.
46.
JOSEPH CONEY born in Walpole 20th July 1769. He married on 17th
November 1804 MARY FLETCHER( born Westford 1st August 1783 and died bet
1880 and 1890). They had seven children - Mary(76), Joseph Saville(77),
Paulina Fletcher(78), a daughter, Samuel(79), Clara(80) and Sarah(81).
He was mainly a farmer and died in Eastport 15th January 1840.

Capt. OLIVER CONEY born in Sharon 11th June 1749. He married in New
Braintree 23rd March 1774 JANE ADAMS( born abt 1752 and died in
Queensbury Furnace, NY 16th June 1792). They had at least six children
which probably included - Johnson(82), John(83), Oliver(84), Betsey(85),
Justus(86) and Luke(87). He was a soldier in the Revolutionary wars and
lived most of his life in Ware but after some disagreement moved to New
York. He died 13th December 1830.
48.
ABIGAIL CONEY born in Sharon 1st March 1753. She married 31st January
1774 PHILLE MORSE( born 19th October 1747 and died 30th March 1828).
They had six children. She died in Ware 20th March 1825.
49.
JOHN CONEY born in Sharon 26th March 1755. He married in Palmer 19th
December 1782 LOVINA PATTERSON(born March 1762 and died in Portland 4th
November 1852). They had ten children - Almonedius, John Russell(88),
William(89), Solomon(90), Lucy(91), Oliver(92), Lowell(93), Martin(94),
his twin sister and Lovina(95).In his early life he was probably a
contractor but later a farmer although he served in the Revolution as a
private. He deid in Portland NY 26th December 1838.
50.
MOLLY CONEY born Sharon 20th July 1758. She married in Brookfield 14th
June 1789 Capt EPHRAIM SCOTT( born 17th November 1767 and died 12th
August 1841). They had five children.She died in Belchertown 11th
February 1841.

MILLE CONEY born 13th December 1760. She married 1st January 1783
EBENEZER GOULD(born 21st July 1754 and died 31st December 1833). They
had seven children. She died in Ware 17th June 1851.
52.
PRISCILLA CONEY born 28th August 1762. She married 2nd January 1783
JAMES BRECKENRIDGE( born 22nd November 1752 and died 10th december
1828). They had eight children. She died 11th September 1840.
53.
WILLIAM CONEY born 3rd February 1765 and married in Palmer, Mass on
30th December 1794 HANNAH DUNBAR( b. 16th July 1770 and died 10th April
1829). They had nine children - Galaxy(96),
Betsey(1798-1826),Nathan(97), William(1803-21), Theodosia( 1805-80 -
unmarried), Caroline(1807-65), John(98), Calvin-Marshall(99) and Mary
Esther( his twin 1811-15). He was a farmer in Ware all his life and died
24th May 1848.
54.DANIEL
CONEY born 3rd January 1768 and married in Ware on 18th December 1794
SALLY ANDREWS( b.1774 and died 1st January 1857). They had five children
- Aaron( 1795-1864, unmarried),Ellis(100), Thomas-Andrews(101),
Dwight(1810-72, unmarried) and Daniel(1812-1898, unmarried). He died
23rd October 1850.
55.
ELLIS CONEY MD born 19th April 1770 and married in Goshen on 26th
September 1802 SARAH GROVER( b.5th August 1775 and died 5th May 1837).
They had two children - Mehetabel-Ellis(1803-89, unmarried) and
Mary-Carr( b1805 and married Leonard Smith). He died 29th October 1807.

56. MARY CONEY born abt 1768 and married JOSIAH BLAKE.

NATHANIEL CONEY born October 1778 and married first in West Roxbury on
9th April 1801 ESTHER THAYER( died 9th June 1822); second in December
1824 MARY JOHNSON( b. 7th February 1786 and died 1st July 1860). There
were no children. He died 24th January 1854.
58. LUCY CONEY born March 1781 and died unmarried in Sharon 16th April 1849.

JOHN CONEY born 29th September 1767 and married on 28th November 1792
SUSANNA CUMMINGS(b.26th January 1772 and died 15th February 1861). They
had eight children - Otis(102), Sally(103), Charles H(104), Susan(b1800
and died young), John(105), Susan(106), George W(107) and Ann(b. abt
1812 and married Mr Bement). He died in Augusta, Maine 3rd April 1821.
60.
ELIZABETH CONEY born 6th March 1772 and married in Jamaica Plain on
27th March 1796 WILLIAM KERR(who died abt 1815). Only one child is
known- William. She died aft 1815.
61.EDWARD CONEY born 3rd August 1776 and married 62.in
July 1801 SARAH ELIZABETH MANSFIELD(b. 18th February 1786 and died in
1843). they possibly only had one son - Edward(1802-29). He died in
Lynn, Mass bef 1817.

JEREMIAH CONEY born 28th July 1780 and married in Lynn on 26th November
1800 REBECCA WALTON NICHOLS(b. 20th July 1785 and died 30th June 1872).
They had twelve children - Mary S(b.1801 and died young), Benjamin
Q(b.1804, died young),Sally(b.1805, died young), Jeremiah(108), Erilla
B(109), Rebecca Walton(110),Sarah C(111), George C(112), Mary Ann(113),
Infant(stillborn), John-Swain(114) and CharlesW(115). He was a
cordwainer living in Lynn and later Sargus, Charlestown and finally N
Reading, Mass. He died 25th August 1858.
63.
MARY CONEY born abt 1784 and married February 1805 CHARLES
LINCOLN(b.22nd April 1783 and died aft 1830). She died bef November
1821.

WILLIAM CONEY born in Dedham 3rd March 1773 and married in East
Hartford,Conn on 19th January 1804 ABIGAIL HILL(b 22nd May 1785 and died
7th July 1818). They had one daughter - Caroline Cordelia Ellis(1812-66
and married Daniel Bonney). He died 26th June 1832.
65.
JABEZ CONEY born 23rd December 1774 and married 11thJanuary 1800 IRENE
GAY(b. 14th September 1788 and died 28th january 1865). They had four
children - Sally Gay(116), Jabez(117), Irene(118) and Hannah Ellis(119).
He was a builder and died in Malden, Mass 24th May 1841.
66.
LUKE CONEY born 1779 and married on 11th February 1810 CATY
BAKER(b.1780 and died 24th December 1864). It appears they had no
children and he died 16th November 1851.
67.
LEWIS CONEY born 1781 and married April 1809 MARY FALES(b. 6th April
1784 and died 10th June 1865). They had one daughter - Mary Ann(1810-81,
unmarried). He died of typhus fever 8th July 1814.
